About The Position

Mendocino-Lake Community College District is currently accepting applications for a Short-Term, Non-Continuing Assistant Teacher for our Child Development Center. This is a temporary, non-continuing position. We are seeking an equity-minded person who is committed to supporting our diverse student population and the District Mission. Under direction of a Child Development Specialist, assists in the supervision of children and implementing curriculum.

Requirements

  • Must meet Human Resources guidelines for qualified hiring; including by not limited to a Live Scan background check; Criminal Records Clearance, Child Abuse Index.
  • Must successfully complete a Physician’s Report and TB Clearance.
  • High School Diploma and/or GED equivalent.
  • Must be CPR and First Aide certified (within one year of hire) and meets all training requirements outlined by Community Care Licensing.

  • See a child on the playground or in the classroom

Responsibilities

  • Assists in planning and implementing daily program
  • Applies and follows proper safety and emergency procedures
  • Assists in preparing and setting up activities
  • Uses effective positive discipline methods that are respectful of the child
  • Assists in collecting data for maintenance of developmental records
  • Works in cooperation with team members to keep yard and equipment safe and in order
  • Treats all children with dignity and respect
  • Assists in the supervision of the classroom and yard
  • Report to work on time for assigned working hours
  • Attends and participates in team meetings and all-staff meetings
  • Maintains the confidentiality of all Center information and records
  • Performs other duties as assigned
