About The Position

The YMCA is looking for dedicated, caring, and creative individuals to join our Childcare team! In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to foster a fun, safe, and nurturing environment where children can learn, grow, and explore their potential. The Early Learning Center at the Whitley County YMCA is seeking a full-time Assistant Teacher who is enthusiastic and compassionate to join our team.

Requirements

• Candidates must be committed to contributing to the mission, culture, and values of the YMCA of Greater Fort Wayne.
• At least 16 years of age, if 18 years or older a high school diploma or equivalent required.
• Excellent communication, supervisory, and organizational skills.
• Excellent human relation skills and enthusiasm.
• Basic math skills and demonstrated recordkeeping proficiency.
• An elevated level of organization, flexibility, and ability to handle difficult situations effectively.
• Successfully complete within 60 days of hire: CPR/First Aid/O2 Certification, Bloodborne Pathogen training, Child Abuse Prevention training, and all other required training as specified by your supervisor.

Responsibilities

• Supervise assigned groups of children and engage in positive staff-child interaction.
• Promote a healthy, emotional, social, intellectual, and physical environment for each child.
• Success in this position is defined as growth in student participation and quality enrichment, sound adherence to defined safety and educational standards by the staff, and positive feedback from parents.
