Assistant Teacher of Babies and Toddlers
About The Position
The Assistant Teacher of Babies and Toddlers supports the Lead Teacher in caring for and educating young children. The role focuses on nurturing children’s development through active engagement, positive interactions, individualized support, and daily care routines. The assistant teacher helps create a safe, clean, inviting classroom and supports communication with families about children’s progress and daily activities. This is a full-time position with scheduling availability required between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. The Hillsborough school is family-run and emphasizes community, child development, and faculty growth. The school offers a premium educational experience in state-of-the-art facilities and describes its environment as supportive, fun, vibrant, and nurturing. Compensation is $17.00–$20.00 per hour.
Requirements
- High school diploma required.
- Previous experience working with young children in a licensed childcare or preschool setting.
- Empathy and compassion for young children.
- Ability to work productively without supervision.
- Basic understanding of child development.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds in connection with handling children.
- Must pass required state background checks and meet state minimum education, experience, and credential requirements.
Nice To Haves
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education preferred.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Lead Teacher in implementing age-appropriate lesson plans.
- Support children’s social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development through active engagement and positive interactions.
- Prepare classroom materials and maintain a safe, clean, and inviting learning environment.
- Supervise children, provide individualized support, and foster a sense of belonging.
- Assist in communicating with families about children’s progress and daily activities.
- Follow health and safety guidelines and licensing regulations.
- Support daily care routines and tasks to promote a nurturing learning environment.
