About The Position

To support the delivery of Chickasaw County School District’s written, taught, tested and reported curriculum and contribute to maximizing student achievement. To ensure the reflection and communication of a positive image and attitude toward decisions and functions of the district as they relate to the public, staff, parents, and students. To assist the classroom teacher in meeting the needs of students.

Requirements

Is highly qualified (AA degree or 60 college hours from an accredited college or passed the ACT Work Keys Test).
Has knowledge of curriculum frameworks.
Has knowledge of reading, writing/literacy development.
Demonstrates proficiency in oral and written communication.
Displays ability to establish and maintain a positive rapport with students, staff, parents and the public.
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Responsibilities

Works directly with students, reinforcing skills previously taught by teacher.
Participate in analysis and interpretation of data to monitor student progress.
Comply with district policies and procedures.
Attends multi-sensory phonics training.
Provides group instruction as prescribed by certified teachers.
Provides individualized instruction.
Demonstrates various instructional strategies.
Monitors work assigned by teacher.
Checks and corrects student’s work while in progress.
Keeps students on task.
Praises and reinforces achievement of students.
Reports student progress to teacher.
Maintains high standards, ethical behavior and confidentiality of student issues.
Exemplifies strong work ethics and professionalism (i.e. promptness, attendance and professional dress).
Performs other duties as assigned.
