About The Position

BronxWorks helps individuals and families improve their economic and social well-being. From toddlers to seniors, we feed, shelter, teach, and support our neighbors to build a stronger community. Program staff provide compassionate support, life-enhancing services, and community-based resources to help empower each family. Together, we guide families on their journey back to independence and into permanent housing.

Requirements

  • Associates degree required, some college course work completed in Early Childhood Education preferred. 
  • A minimum of one year experience in an early childhood or daycare setting. 
  • Proficiency in English is required, Spanish as a second language is a plus. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and other standard business technology is required.  
  • Possess a current Mandated Reporter – Child Abuse & Maltreatment Certificate by New York State. 
  • Possess an up to date Adult Child & Infant CPR/ Pediatric First Aid Certificate. 
  • Excellent oral and written communication, time management and organizational, excellent inter-personal relations skills, able to multi- task, and a team player are necessary. 

Responsibilities

  • Follow all OSHA requirements
  • Assist Program Director or Program Coordinator with the development of program goals and early childhood activities
  • Assist in preparation of lesson plans in compliance with ACD regulations
  • Create a nurturing and supportive environment for children 
  • Implement various early childhood educational, recreational, and social activities that foster development and growth
  • Engage children in team building activities
  • Assist an individual child or group of children with dressing and toilet training; change diapers; ensure sanitary conditions
  • Assist with classroom management
  • Attend regular staff meetings
  • Attend training sessions and workshops on early childhood education
  • Meet monthly with program coordinator and/or program director for supervision 
  • Act as a liaison with parents
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
