This position is a year-round job. An Assistant Teacher supports the Lead Teacher in providing care and education for children in a safe and developmentally appropriate learning environment. The Assistant Teacher plays a key role in observing and supporting children's development, assisting with the implementation of curriculum activities, and fostering positive relationships with children and families. Responsibilities include assisting in setting up the learning environment, engaging children in developmentally appropriate activities, supporting guidance strategies, and ensuring the safety and well-being of all children. The Assistant Teacher collaborates closely with the Lead Teacher, the center director, and parents to promote the cognitive, emotional, social, and physical development of the children. The Assistant Teacher must demonstrate a willingness to learn and grow professionally, respect individual differences, and support the goals and vision of the child care center. Provide instruction to students who are academically high needs. Provide personal care, including attending to hygiene issues, to students with disabilities. Instruction is in small and large group settings. Supervise students in all aspects of the day. Provide special services support, including behavior management and behavior contracts, basic skills instruction, demonstrate/teach/and model appropriate social skills and interaction. Must have experience or disposition to work with potentially aggressive students. ECE short certificate is required within 5 years of hire. Other duties to be assigned.
