About The Position

Lenox Hill Neighborhood House, founded in 1894, is a leading human services provider in New York, offering a wide range of integrated services to approximately 16,000 individuals annually. Our award-winning Early Childhood Center (ECC) is a model program for innovation, dedicated to providing the best educational, developmental, and social services to 147 low-income preschoolers and their families. The ECC is accredited by NAEYC and focuses on preparing children for success through a holistic curriculum that enhances language, literacy, motor, social-emotional, and cognitive development, complemented by integrated Family Services. The curriculum includes art, music, movement, swimming, and farm-to-table meals. We are currently seeking an Assistant Teacher to join our Early Education Center team. This role reports directly to and is supervised by the Early Education Center Deputy Director.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, with a CDA (Child Development Assistant credential) or a Bachelor’s degree
  • Experience working with children ages 3 - 6
  • Sound knowledge of child development
  • An ability to relate to children, staff and parents in a positive and constructive manner
  • Daily flexibility and an interest in working in multiple classrooms
  • Service oriented and committed to working in early childhood education

  • Spanish fluency a plus
