About The Position

The After School Care Assistant Teacher is responsible for helping create a safe, welcoming, and Christ-centered environment for MC Preparatory Elementary and Secondary students during after-school hours. This role provides intentional supervision, builds positive relationships with students and families, and helps the program operates with excellence, organization, and care while reflecting the values and mission of MC Preparatory. Our Vision is to take students from corporate encounters with God to daily personal encounters with God. Our mission is to partner with families to develop kingdom leaders by equipping the whole student, mind, body, and spirit through presence-driven discipleship. All Mercy Culture Preparatory and Staff must be in agreement with and abiding by the Leadership Standards of MC Prep and Mercy Culture Church.

Requirements

CPR/First Aid Certification
Ministry Safe Training
Food Handlers/Child Care Training

Responsibilities

Communicate with parents in a positive and empowering manner
Establish and maintain positive working relationships with parents and staff
Arrive for scheduled shifts on time
Assess a situation and act quickly and efficiently
Ensure children are signed in to the after school program
Make sure parents sign children out each day
Maintain the program with organizational skills
Be flexible to change as situations present themselves
Demonstrate competency, good judgment, and self control
Relate to children with courtesy, respect, acceptance, and patience
Recognize the uniqueness and potential of all children, their families, and their cultures
Know which children you are accountable for
Know every child’s name and grade
Supervise children at all times, adjusting to each child’s different age and ability
Ensure that children are not out of control
Be free from duties not directly involving the children, such as personal use of electronic devices
Interact with children in a positive way
Work as a part of a team, clear communication between staff
Know indoor and outdoor layout of after school care spaces
