The Sheridan County YMCA is seeking a caring and energetic Assistant Teacher to join their team. This role involves creating a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for children and families. Requirements
- At least 18 years old
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt in a fast-paced environment
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills
- Commitment to ongoing training and professional development
- CPR, First Aid, and Child Abuse Prevention certifications (Required within 90 days of hire and maintained)
- Alarm/Emergency Procedures training (Required within 90 days of hire and maintained)
Nice To Haves
- Experience working with children in a developmental setting
Responsibilities
- Assisting in planning and leading fun, age-appropriate activities and lessons
- Creating a safe, positive, and inclusive environment for all children
- Supervising children and ensuring proper staff-to-child ratios
- Building strong, respectful relationships with children and parents
- Communicating effectively with families about their child’s development
- Maintaining accurate program records and documentation
- Supporting program events, family nights, and YMCA initiatives
- Ensuring safety through proper supervision, transportation practices, and adherence to policies
