About The Position

The Assistant Teacher supports the Lead Teacher in creating engaging programs, managing the classroom, and maintaining a safe, stimulating environment. The role involves nurturing children’s development and contributing to a welcoming, collaborative school community. Each location is privately owned and operated by a Goddard School franchisee, which sets its own wage and benefit programs.

Requirements

High school diploma required.
Previous experience working with young children in a licensed childcare or preschool setting.
Empathy and compassion for young children.
Ability to work productively without supervision.
Basic understanding of child development.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds in connection with handling children.
Must pass required state background checks and meet state minimum education, experience, and credential requirements.

Nice To Haves

Associate or bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education preferred.

Responsibilities

Assist the Lead Teacher in implementing age-appropriate lesson plans.
Support children’s social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development through active engagement and positive interactions.
Prepare classroom materials and maintain a safe, clean, and inviting learning environment.
Supervise children, provide individualized support, and foster a sense of belonging.
Assist with communicating to families about children’s progress and daily activities.
Follow health and safety guidelines and licensing regulations.
Support daily care routines and tasks to promote a nurturing learning environment.
