About The Position

As an Assistant Teacher, you will work side-by-side with teachers and families to provide an authentic Montessori experience by following each child as they grow and develop independence, confidence and a strong sense of community. You will ensure the safety and supervision of children ages 16 months – 6 years. You will assist and support the lead teacher with supervision of children in the classroom while fostering an environment that will allow children to develop at their own pace. You will work with individual and small groups of children as directed by the lead teacher, create a rapport with the children and be responsive to their needs, guiding them through self-directed activities. You will maintain open lines of communication with parents to answer questions and be responsible for the care and maintenance of the classroom, teaching materials and equipment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to multitask and remain organized.
  • Ability to work within regular operating hours.
  • Must meet state criteria for childcare employment.

Nice To Haves

  • 1+ years’ experience working in a licensed childcare facility
  • Associate degree in early childhood development or related field.
  • Familiarity with the Montessori approach to education.
  • Responsible Team Player/Cooperative
