About The Position
The Learning Experience - Upper West Side is seeking a caring and dependable Assistant Teacher to join our early childhood education team. This is a great opportunity for someone who loves working with young children and wants to build experience in a professional preschool environment. You'll work alongside experienced Lead Teachers to create a safe, engaging, and nurturing classroom where children can learn, play, and grow.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required
- Previous daycare, preschool, childcare, or experience working with children preferred
- Early Childhood Education coursework or CDA is a plus
- Patient, dependable, energetic, and team-oriented
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Must meet applicable New York City childcare requirements
Responsibilities
- Support Lead Teachers with daily classroom routines and learning activities
- Engage children through play, art, music, movement, stories, and hands-on experiences
- Assist with meals, diapering/toileting, rest time, transitions, and outdoor play as appropriate
- Support children's language, cognitive, physical, and social-emotional development
- Provide attentive supervision and positive guidance
- Help prepare classroom activities and learning materials
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized classroom environment
- Build positive relationships with children, families, and fellow educators
- Provide classroom coverage and support as needed
- Follow applicable New York City childcare health, safety, and licensing requirements
