About The Position
The Learning Experience – Tuckahoe is hiring Assistant Teachers to support our classrooms during the heart of the school day. With consistent 10:00 AM–3:00 PM weekday hours, this position is a great fit for someone who loves working with children but is looking for a shorter daytime schedule. You'll work alongside our teaching teams to provide additional classroom support, maintain safe ratios, and help children enjoy a positive and engaging day at school.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Patient, reliable, energetic, and team-oriented
- Comfortable supporting different classrooms as needed
- Must meet applicable New York childcare licensing requirements
Nice To Haves
- Previous experience working with children preferred
- Daycare, preschool, childcare, camp, or early childhood experience is a plus
Responsibilities
- Support Lead Teachers with classroom activities and daily routines
- Provide additional classroom and ratio coverage where needed
- Engage children in play-based learning, art, music, sensory activities, and outdoor play
- Assist with meals, diapering/toileting, rest time, and transitions
- Provide attentive supervision and positive guidance
- Help maintain clean, organized, and welcoming classrooms
- Build positive relationships with children and fellow educators
- Follow applicable New York childcare licensing requirements
