About The Position

There will be a mandatory training prior to start of the program, June 22 nd -24 th . The Assistant Teacher will assist in school readiness groups using the Kids in Transition to School (KITS) model and philosophy, including appropriate use of reinforcement and limit setting. Attend weekly clinical meetings. Complete impressions about each child and group as a whole after each session. Groups meet for 3 hours each session, including prep time. During the summer there will be a morning and afternoon session. Groups will meet Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Candidate will work both morning and afternoon during session days. Assist with lessons and role plays Help facilitate transitions Participate in the ongoing assessment of children’s strengths and needs Work with Lead Teacher and team to implement adaptations and support for individual student needs Participate in weekly clinical team meeting Complete post-group ratings of child behavior Other project related tasks as needed

Requirements

  • Two years education beyond high school and one year of additional related experience or equivalent combination of training and experience appropriate to the position
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly organized
  • Experience working with/and or educating young children
  • Understanding of child development and appropriate expectations for 4–6 year olds
  • Good working knowledge of personal computers: formal training and/or employment experience in this area strongly preferred
