About The Position

Chelsea Piers is seeking to hire a full-time Assistant Preschool Teacher to join our CP Kids team starting immediately. This role reports to the Director of CP Kids and works closely with the teaching team and entire CP Kids staff. The Assistant Preschool Teacher will work Monday - Friday, 10 AM - 6 PM. The mission of CP Kids is to create a learning environment in which young children learn through play, actively developing their language, cognitive, social/emotional and motor skills. At CP Kids, children are given concrete experiences to encourage interaction with the world around them and exploration of new ideas and materials. The learning needs of every child at CP Kids are recognized on an individual basis and considered in curriculum planning. We value all varieties of families and cultures and incorporate that diversity into our classrooms. Communication, collaboration, and support are valued to create an environment in which all children, families and teachers feel comfortable to learn and grow as a community.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to stand on one’s feet for long periods of time
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
• Available to work Monday - Friday 10:00am - 6:00pm

Nice To Haves

• Prior experience teaching children 3-5 years old preferred
• Excellent references
• Have a strong understanding of the development needs of young children

Responsibilities

• Play and engage with children while modeling appropriate language and social interaction
• Help children gain independence and self-help skills
• Run, play, and be active with students
• Work collaboratively with colleagues as part of a teaching team to help plan and implement curriculum
• Build relationships with families and work with parents to help them grow and be able to answer questions (i.e. potty training, sleep, etc.)
• Be responsible for the safety of students both inside the school and out in the neighborhood
• Interact with parents and students in a professional manner both verbally and via email and other online channels
