About The Position

Middletown Christian Early Learning Center is seeking an assistant teacher for their school-age class, which serves children from Kindergarten to 5th grade. The role involves coordinating and implementing educational curriculum, planning engaging activities, ensuring a safe and healthy classroom environment, and maintaining records. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of child development, excellent communication skills, and a willingness to work with various age groups within the center. This position requires spiritual maturity and adherence to the school's statement of faith and lifestyle agreement.

Requirements

  • Must enjoy working with children K- 5 th grade.
  • Publicly profess a faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
  • Actively engage in the life and ministry of a church as a member.
  • Believe and support the school’s statement of faith (Statement of Grace Baptist Church).
  • Agree to abide by the Lifestyle Statement.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to work well with others (staff, children, and parents) and to foster a team environment.
  • A strong understanding of child development.
  • Must be trained within 90 days of hire in Infant/Child CPR and First Aid.
  • Must clear full background check and pass health screening.
  • Be able to lift 35 - 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and implement educational curriculum by developing classroom activities based on developmentally appropriate practices and early learning standards.
  • Plan individual and group age-appropriate activities to actively engage children and encourage social, cognitive, and emotional growth.
  • Ensure all center policies and state regulations are met.
  • Ensure a healthy classroom environment – including maintaining appropriate hygiene and cleanliness standards and safety and security of children.
  • Maintain accurate records, forms, and files.
  • Willing to work with any age in the ELC when needed.
  • Maintain personal professional development plan to ensure continuous quality improvement which includes 10 clock hours in specialized training.
