About The Position

Join Our Team as a Full-Time Assistant Teacher! Austin, Texas Are you passionate about helping young children learn and grow? The Child Development Center is looking for a caring and energetic Early Childhood Teacher to join our team! We provide a supportive, play-based environment where teachers and children thrive. About CDC: We are a NAEYC-accredited, 4-star Texas Rising Star preschool in Southwest Austin. As an established non-profit preschool, our primary focus is on children, families, and staff. We serve infants through pre-K. This position is Monday - Friday and could possibly work with all age groups. Must be available to work 9:30am - 6:00pm. This role is a year-round, non-exempt position. This position starts immediately. The ideal candidate will bring creativity, warmth, and professionalism to the classroom while providing a safe and engaging environment for children to grow socially, emotionally, and cognitively. Requirements

  • Have at least one (1) year of classroom experience in early childhood
  • Have a passion for creating a nurturing, safe, and supportive learning environment that is stimulating and conducive to learning

  • Have a strong desire to work collaboratively with a talented team of diverse teachers and administrators

  • Have an ability to adapt to various teaching styles and children's needs
  • Have strong organizational skills and the ability to manage children in a group setting
  • Be reliable, professional, and have a strong work ethic
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Candidates must meet all Texas DFPS and HHSC requirements and must pass state and national criminal background checks.
  • Must be able to lift/carry 25-30+ pounds
  • Must be able to be on your feet for long periods of time
  • Must be able to move, bend, reach, and physically navigate the classroom as required for daily operations
  • General computer proficiency

Nice To Haves

  • Associates in Early Childhood or a CDA
  • a Bachelor's in Education or Early Childhood

Responsibilities

  • Collaborating with Lead Teacher to implement an engaging and developmentally appropriate curriculum that follows the standards for the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and Texas Rising Star.
  • Collaborate with the Lead Teacher regarding assessments, classroom materials, and specific child skill development.
  • Supporting children’s learning by implementing the lesson plan.
  • Communicating with families both verbally and in writing.
  • Establish and maintain strong communication with parents/guardians.
  • Build positive relationships with families and co-teachers.
  • Serve as a positive role model for all the children.
  • Encourage language development through developmentally appropriate activities, songs, questions, books, and other means.
  • Active engagement with students and participation in classroom activities at all times.
  • Maintaining an organized and clean classroom environment is conducive to play-based learning.
  • Participate in professional development and training opportunities.
