About The Position

The Assistant Systems Administrator is an entry-level position designed for individuals beginning their career in enterprise IT. This role assists with the configuration, analysis, and maintenance of core infrastructure systems, including Windows Server environments, Microsoft 365 cloud platforms, and cybersecurity controls. The position requires initiative, problem-solving skills, and the ability to learn and apply technical concepts under general supervision. Assist with system configuration and analysis for Windows Server environments (Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy). Support Microsoft 365 services, including identity management and endpoint security. Participate in design and implementation of security policies under guidance. Develop and maintain basic automation scripts (PowerShell) for administrative tasks. Research and recommend improvements for system performance and security. Document processes and contribute to IT standards and best practices. Provide tier-2 support for escalated technical issues and collaborate on solutions. Participate in infrastructure upgrade projects and emerging technology evaluations. Respond to critical incidents and assist with scheduled maintenance outside regular hours when necessary.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in Information Technology or related field; bachelor’s degree preferred and at least one technical certification (e.g., CompTIA Network+, Security+, Microsoft Certified Fundamentals) or equivalent experience
  • The position requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently
  • Applicants must have familiarity with Windows Server, Active Directory, and Microsoft 365 environments as well as basic scripting knowledge (PowerShell preferred)
  • The position requires strong organizational skills and the ability to work with people within every level of the organization
