About The Position

Swim Instructors at Small Fish Big Fish Swim School will be responsible for conducting swim lessons for multiple clients of different age and skill levels. At times, Swim Instructors may be asked to perform ad hoc business-related duties as well. The mission is to teach self-confidence, discipline, and well-being through the lifelong sport of swimming. The vision is to touch as many lives as possible through positive and fun in-water learning experiences, develop and strengthen individual mental and physical health through sport, educate the community on the dangers of childhood drowning and provide continuing drowning prevention education, instill a life-long love of the sport of swimming, and always 'WOW' customers.

  • Have basic knowledge of swimming
  • Qualified applicant must be able to work a minimum of two weekdays 3:30 pm - 7:15 pm, and a Saturday 8:30 am - 2:00 pm.
  • The schedule stays the same and does not change regularly.

Responsibilities

  • Organize and instruct individual students and small groups in swim lessons and aquatic safety, including babies and me, preschool aquatics, and six levels of learning to swim courses (guppies, minnows, goldfish, barracudas, dolphins, sharks).
  • Ensure lesson objectives adhere to Small Fish Big Fish training philosophy and style as referenced in the Training Manual.
  • Lift and maneuver students to educate them on proper technique throughout the lesson.
  • Educate and enforce safety rules.
  • Strive to prevent accidents, maintain discipline.
  • Administer first aid in the event of injury.
  • Maintain records of student progress and provide clients and parents with frequent feedback.
  • Assist in maintaining a clean and safe pool environment for clients, staff, and the general public.
  • Help develop new methods and techniques to be used in daily instruction.
  • Act as a company spokesperson at community events by educating potential clients and community members on water safety and drowning prevention.
  • Perform cleaning tasks of both the pool and its surroundings as needed.
  • Perform ad hoc duties as needed (e.g. office/clerical work, marketing & event participation, etc).
