Lauderdale is seeking an experienced marine professional to serve as a Patrol Captain and Assistant Supervisor. This is a hands-on leadership position that combines active vessel operations with responsibility for supporting daily patrol operations, crew performance, training, safety, vessel readiness, and customer service. The successful candidate will respond to towing, salvage, grounding, emergency assistance, and special project assignments while helping the Patrol Supervisor coordinate crews and maintain consistent operational standards. The Assistant Supervisor must be prepared to lead by example, make sound decisions under pressure, communicate clearly, and remain flexible as operating needs change. This role is designed for a capable Patrol Captain who is ready to develop as a leader and accept increasing responsibility within the company. Requirements

USCG Master License with a minimum 100 Ton Near Coastal rating.
Commercial Assistance Towing Endorsement.
Radar Endorsement
Current STCW certification.
Current TWIC Card and valid passport.
Open Water Scuba certification or higher.
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Proven marine towing and salvage experience with strong boat-handling and docking skills.
Mechanical aptitude and practical troubleshooting ability.
Strong leadership, communication, decision-making, and customer service skills.
Ability to work independently, direct others when assigned, and remain calm under pressure.
Ability to work varied shifts, weekends, holidays, and additional or extended assignments as operational needs require.
Ability to participate in the company’s random drug-testing program.

Nice To Haves

At least two years of marine towing, salvage, commercial vessel, emergency response, military, or marine law-enforcement experience.
Prior leadership, supervisory, training, or crew-development experience.
Knowledge of South Florida waterways, marinas, bridges, inlets, and operating conditions.
Trailer-handling experience and additional mechanical, diving, or emergency-response training.

Responsibilities

Safely operate company towing vessels single-handedly in varying marine environments, weather conditions, and traffic situations.
Respond to disabled vessels, groundings, emergency assistance calls, salvage incidents, long-distance towing assignments, and special projects.
Perform towing, ungrounding, fuel delivery, battery jump starts, and other marine assistance services safely and professionally.
Assess incidents, identify hazards, and determine an appropriate response strategy while protecting customers, crew members, vessels, and company equipment.
Support the Patrol Supervisor in coordinating daily operations, assigning or adjusting work as directed, and maintaining effective communication among Captains, Dispatch, management, and support personnel.
Provide field leadership during towing, salvage, emergency response, and multi-vessel operations when assigned.
Assist with training, mentoring, and evaluating Captains and crew members in boat handling, towing procedures, customer service, safety, documentation, and vessel care.
Reinforce company policies, operational procedures, safety expectations, and professional conduct; promptly report concerns or performance issues to the Patrol Supervisor or Operations Manager.
Help maintain adequate operational coverage and respond to urgent staffing or operational needs when reasonably required.
Communicate professionally with customers, coworkers, dispatchers, law enforcement, Coast Guard personnel, marinas, and other marine professionals.
Complete service reports, work orders, incident documentation, maintenance records, and other required paperwork accurately and on time.
Conduct routine vessel inspections and perform preventative maintenance, cleaning, and minor repairs to keep the fleet safe, reliable, and mission-ready.
Identify and report vessel, equipment, facility, or safety deficiencies and help coordinate corrective action.
Participate in training, safety meetings, drills, performance discussions, and continuing education programs.
Promote BoatU.S. memberships and company services when appropriate.
