About The Position

This is where my hands make life-sustaining products. As an Assistant Supervisor, Manufacturing, you will play a key role in supporting daily production operations within Baxter's Cleveland manufacturing facility. Working alongside Manufacturing Supervisors and production leadership, you will help ensure the safe, efficient, and compliant production of life-saving IV therapies, premixed drugs, renal therapies, and other sterile solutions. In this hands-on leadership position, you will balance operational execution with people leadership, helping drive performance, quality, and continuous improvement across your assigned value stream.

Requirements

High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
Minimum 6 months of manufacturing experience and demonstrated leadership skills.
Must have basic English written and oral communication skills adequate to communicate with other team members.
Understand verbal and written safety and quality instructions and read and comprehend written work instructions including words and drawings.
Must be able to perform basic mathematics.
Possess or be able to obtain PIV (Powered Industrial Vehicle) Operator Certification
Possess or be able to obtain Inspector Certification
Willing to work a flexible work schedule and overtime as required.
Have strong oral and written communication abilities.
Must be able to read, understand and follow GMPs, SOPs, Specs, BOMs, and all guidelines as they relate to the process.
Must have interpersonal and communication skills for routine interaction with plant management and other plant personnel (internal and external).
Knowledge of lock-out/tag-out safety procedures.
Knowledge of Environmental Health and Safety procedures.
Lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds.
Normal visual acuity and the ability to distinguish color are necessary.
Occasionally specialized physicals are required when working with certain drug codes.
Must be able to pass the P.I.V. physical.
Must be able to squat, climb, kneel, reach above shoulder level, reach at or below shoulder level, twist and bend at the neck, twist and bend at the waist and balance.

Nice To Haves

1 year of experience as a Material Handler, Production Technician or equivalent preferred
Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook and the ability to learn/use enterprise software (i.e. POMS and Maximo) preferred

Responsibilities

Foster a safe work environment by ensuring team knows the cardinal rules, applying 6S principles to sustain a clean and safe work area, and regularly conduct Gemba/safety walks.
Set up line for production including having to step in and operating the equipment as need, ensure labor efficiency, and call out staffing shortages.
Along with the supervisor, motivate, engage, recognize, and develop employees to create a positive work environment.
Support supervisors in hiring manager responsibilities: Interviewing, selecting, onboarding, and training new employees.
Participate in Continuous Improvement, Project and Safety Teams, Lean Initiatives, Value Stream led activities and defect prevention programs.
Review batch documentation and records, perform preventative maintenance tasks and updating electronic records in various software applications.
Perform scheduled quality checks, disposition product, identify any deviations that may occur and take the appropriate action to include stopping production on the machine if necessary.
Assist in leading tier meetings which include a review of safety, quality, and production goals.
Lead or call out troubleshooting activities with Quality and Maintenance personnel to determine the true root cause of non-conforming processes.
Communicate with outgoing shift personnel to obtain information regarding any problems with machines, materials, etc. encountered during the previous shift.
Investigate, identify, and correct or bring up any inefficiency in value stream performance.
Take appropriate action if any safety, quality, mechanical or discrepancy issues occur.
Learn, understand, and apply rigorous quality standards, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP).
