About The Position

The Assistant Supervisor assists with the management and development of staff. This role involves oversight and accountability for quality and service, regulatory compliance, work unit safety, strategic planning, document management, and developing and implementing new services. The Assistant Supervisor works cooperatively with a wide variety of customers, as well as internal and external resources. They will also complete special projects as assigned by the laboratory consultant/director(s), administrator and/or operations manager(s), and DLMP supervisor. Individuals hired for this position are required to complete 2 years in this role before becoming eligible to transfer to other positions within Mayo Clinic. This vacancy is not eligible for sponsorship, and Mayo Clinic does not participate in the F-1 STEM OPT extension program.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in clinical laboratory science (CLS), medical laboratory science (MLS), medical technology (MT), chemistry, or biological science AND three years of clinical laboratory experience.
  • OR Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in addition to a certificate in MLS, or another clinical laboratory specialty certificate AND three years of clinical laboratory experience (certificates reviewed case by case).
  • For non-testing and Histopathology laboratories: Bachelor's degree, preferably in CLS/MLS/MT, management/business, sciences, or health-related field AND three years of laboratory or management experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.

  • Demonstrated problem-solving ability.
  • Highly organized.
  • Efficient.
  • Able to work independently.
  • Human relations skills to influence and motivate others.
