This role is responsible for providing quality care to all animals utilized in research, including animal husbandry activities such as feeding, watering, sanitation, observation, and room cleaning. Approximately 50% of the job responsibility involves these direct animal care tasks. The other 50% focuses on assisting the facility supervisor with the training and development of animal care technicians, ensuring they provide quality care. This includes assisting with facility orientations, maintenance, staff scheduling, SOP development, inventory and ordering, and data entry. The position also involves communicating with principal investigators and lab staff to address questions and troubleshoot problems, and performing additional duties as assigned by staff veterinarians or the facility supervisor.
