About The Position

Calusa Country Club, located in Bradenton, FL, is pleased to announce an excellent career opportunity for a Full-Time Assistant Superintendent! We are seeking a motivated individual who is interested in contributing to a positive experience for our members and guests while continuing to grow their knowledge of golf club operations. As an associate of Troon, you will contribute to a global leader in golf and community management. General Purpose Responsible for managing all agronomic procedures for our 12-hole course. The candidate will report directly to the Director of Agronomy and work closely with other assistants and equipment managers. The candidate will manage a staff of 14 people which includes a 2nd assistant and a chemical technician.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or associate's degree from a two or four-year college or technical school; three to four years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience (degree preference in agronomy, horticulture, or plant/soil science)
  • Valid driver's license required
  • Pesticide Application License required
  • Ability to read and speak English is required in order to perform the duties of the job (e.g. associates are required to communicate with English-speaking customers or co-workers, and equipment manuals are in English)

Responsibilities

  • Work with the Superintendent to ensure that the annual golf course maintenance budget and capital plans are maintained and followed
  • Supervise and assist maintenance staff in daily duties
  • Assist in the planning, organizing, and direction of the maintenance and construction of putting greens, tees, fairways, roughs, and bunkers
  • Supervise the planting and cultural practices involved in growing various turf grasses, trees, and ornamental plants
  • Ensure that construction equipment is properly maintained
  • Assist in the procurement of supplies and materials and ensure costs remain within budgetary limitations
  • Keep records of annual maintenance activities and costs and assist with the preparation of required reports
  • Follow sound purchasing procedures utilizing preferred vendors when possible
  • Reconcile and provide timely coding of all invoices, payroll, and other required documents
  • Coordinate snow removal (depending upon facility location)
  • Ensure all company policies and procedures are followed including compliance with government regulations
  • Ensure associates obtain proper licenses needed to perform job tasks safely and within city, state, and federal regulations; address all real or perceived environmental concerns directly
  • Manage department members that may include, but are not limited to: Mechanic, Environmental Technician, Equipment Operator, Foreman, Greenskeeper, and Irrigation Technician
  • Ensure that effective orientation and training are given to each new associate; develop ongoing training programs
  • Monitor business volume forecast and plan accordingly in areas of manpower, productivity, costs, and other expenses
  • Regular and reliable attendance
