About The Position

Assists the Waste Water Collection Superintendent in direction and coordination of activities of workers engaged in installation, maintenance, repair, expansion, and relocation of wastewater lines by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors, crew leaders, or lead personnel. Assists in the planning sequence of operations to facilitate additions, deletions and modifications to the sanitary sewer system. Assists with ordering, scheduling, and delivery of materials and supplies to meet installation, maintenance and repair schedules. Assists in direction of activities of subordinate personnel who oversee installation, maintenance, and repair of wastewater lines facilities. Inspects field projects to confirm conformance to specifications. Responsible for carrying out field assignments and project tasks. Responsibilities include possible assistance in the interviewing process and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Responsible for taking project assignments and tasks from Superintendent and following through until project completion. Responsible for overall direction and production of all crews assigned. Responds to emergency conditions by redirecting labor, materials and supplies as is necessary. Confers with administrative and technical personnel and personnel of other utilities to coordinate departmental activities. Assists with input in preparation of budget estimates for Wastewater Collection Division and Sewer Rehabilitation based on anticipated needs of departments, etc. Reviews completed word orders, overtime forms daily. May compose letters and reports for files, various agencies, and customers. Completes any work assignments given by supervisors. Must be able to carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 3-5 years sewer line, pipeline or general construction supervisory experience.
  • Know all wastewater laws and requirements for wastewater systems and requirements to deal with any violations.
  • Able to deal with the public and officials/representatives from all other agencies, including other municipalities and state and federal agencies.
  • Must be able to do related math calculations and know formulas and conversion tables.
  • Must have proven supervisory and management ability.
  • Valid Texas driver's license.
