Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Field Foreman role.
  • Minimum of 10 years of prior site work experience.
  • Strong understanding of excavation and site construction methods, field operations, contracts, plans, and specifications.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and develop field employees and Foremen.
  • Ability to coordinate labor, equipment, materials, subcontractors, and project schedules.
  • Strong understanding of field productivity, job costing, and budget awareness.
  • Ability to read and understand construction plans and specifications.
  • Strong time-management and organizational skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain productive working relationships with employees, vendors, clients, and management.
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety.
  • Basic computer skills, including email, file management, Microsoft Word/Excel, and web-based systems.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced construction environment.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with construction management or field-management software.
  • Experience using HCSS Heavy Job or similar construction productivity/job-costing software.
  • Broad experience with heavy civil, excavation, underground utilities, grading, and site development operations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and direction to field operations and help drive the daily execution of projects.
  • Mentor Foremen and help strengthen their understanding of leadership expectations, job planning, and field responsibilities.
  • Assist with interviewing, hiring, assessing, and training employees.
  • Develop and assess training plans for Foremen and provide ongoing mentoring and progress updates.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers and the Operations Manager to develop daily, weekly, and three-week construction activity plans.
  • Direct field employees according to established project plans and schedules.
  • Ensure required labor, materials, equipment, and other resources are available to support planned work.
  • Read, interpret, and understand project plans and specifications.
  • Ensure labor and equipment hours are accurate and coded correctly.
  • Coordinate and direct subcontractors as required.
  • Review project costs, budget performance, and productivity with Project Managers.
  • Coordinate extra work and assist with identifying impacts to schedule, cost, and resources.
  • Participate in client meetings, project meetings, and management meetings.
  • Prepare job schedules and provide updates for look-ahead meetings.
  • Maintain job documentation, including correspondence, photographs, and project records.
  • Ensure required inspections are scheduled and coordinated.
  • Work closely with the Logistics Coordinator to ensure equipment is positioned where it is needed.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with employees, clients, vendors, and field contacts.
  • Support repeat business by maintaining strong field relationships and representing Geotex professionally.
