About The Position

The purpose of this position is to gain experience and provide support in the supervision of the activities and resources required to maintain the golf course to predetermined standards. This role involves driving a company vehicle and requires a valid driver's license. The position also involves assisting in the application of sound turf management practices, gaining exposure in all facets of the operation including scheduling, calibration and application of plant protectants, cultural practices, irrigation and moisture management, and renovation. The role provides a leadership role to all associates using accepted management techniques to improve and maintain high quality standards. The Assistant Superintendent In Training works closely with the Assistant Superintendent and Head Superintendent to carry out supervisory responsibilities, including training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, and addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled or graduate of a Certificate, 2 or 4 year program in turf grass management related degree.
  • 1 year related experience through internships and/or co-ops.
  • Must have NC Pesticide License or ability to attain one within 6 months of hire.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) and annual MVRs, according to company guidelines.
  • Ability to follow safe, defensive driving practices at all times, obey all traffic laws, regulations, signals and markings, use a seat belt, and follow Company policies and procedures, including the Substance Abuse Policy.
  • Ability to never drive while under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medications that may impair your ability to operate a vehicle safely.
  • Ability to report any accidents immediately and cooperate fully with insurance claims investigations.
