About The Position

The Assistant Superintendent, Electrical is a frontline leadership role responsible for supporting Electrical operations across assigned areas. Operating under the BIW Business Operating System (BOS), The Assistant Superintendent, Electrical ensures safe, high-quality, and efficient execution of trade work to support ship/unit construction schedules. This role provides technical and resource management for Electrical activities and plays a key role in coaching and mentoring Front Line Supervisors to strengthen trade performance and team effectiveness.

Requirements

Associates degree in electrical OR equivalent 5 years working in an electrical trade required.
Minimum 5 years of experience in electrical processes within a manufacturing/shipbuilding environment required.
Excellent administrative skills: effective interpersonal skills, demonstrated skills in verbal and written communication, problem solving/decision making, conflict resolution, and organizational skills.
Demonstrated ability to effectively manage conflict and multiple priorities.

Nice To Haves

BIW graduate apprentice preferred
Minimum 5 years of supervisory/management experience preferred.
Experience with Earned Value Management System preferred.

Responsibilities

Champion BIW safety culture and enforce all safety standards and procedures across operations.
Ensure proper PPE use, hazard awareness, and adherence to safe work practices.
Support safety training and continuous improvement in workplace safety performance.
Lead execution of electrical construction activities to support ship/unit schedules.
Monitor quality of work performed; ensure first-time quality through proper oversight and training.
Provide technical guidance and support to Supervisors and mechanics.
Support execution of Plan of the Week (POW) and coordinate with area management to align resources with operational needs.
Serve as the primary point of contact for electrical activities in assigned areas.
Manage and recommend manpower moves within and between areas to support operational priorities.
Resolve deck plate issues in coordination with area and trade leadership.
Share responsibility with area management for performance in cost, schedule, and quality.
Mentor Front Line Supervisors by developing their technical knowledge, leadership skills, and ability to execute daily objectives.
Coach Supervisors on problem solving, team management, and trade best practices.
Promote continuous learning and skills development for both Supervisors and mechanics.
Identify and implement process improvement initiatives to enhance performance and reduce rework.
Support BOS-aligned improvement activities and structured problem-solving approaches.
Collaborate with peers and leadership to drive improvements in quality, efficiency, and execution.
