About The Position

The University of Virginia, a competitive Division I program, is seeking an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach (Wage) to support its Olympic Sports program. This role involves assisting the Associate Athletics Director for Strength and Conditioning with the strength training and conditioning of student-athletes and maintaining the weight room. This is a wage position designed as an internship for individuals with CSCS or CSCC certification or those who have completed a GA-style position in a collegiate setting. It is not eligible for leave or other benefits and is limited to 1500 hours of work annually. The anticipated compensation is $27,000 for the period of August 3, 2026, to July 2, 2027.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required prior to official start date.
  • Experience in a weight room setting.
  • Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) certification from the NSCA or Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC) certification from the CSCCa.

Nice To Haves

  • Completed CSCS or CSCC certification.
  • Finished a GA-style position in a collegiate setting.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting in the daily implementation of training programs as designed by members of the strength staff.
  • Setting up and breaking down workouts for student-athletes.
  • Cleaning and maintenance of equipment and weight room areas.
  • Providing strength and conditioning coaching to student-athletes in a fitness facility, on sports fields, and in sports stadiums.
