About The Position

At Lincoln Creek Lumber, we believe great stores are built by great people. As Assistant Store Manager, you’ll be a key leader in our day-to-day operations; serving customers, supporting and leading your team, and helping carry forward over 100 years of community trust. You’ll work closely with the Store Manager to drive performance, develop staff, and create a store experience our neighbors can count on. This role is for someone who's outgoing, people-driven, and genuinely excited about what great customer service looks like. You'll work alongside the Store Manager to run day to day operations, coach and grow your team, and serve customers who've been coming to us for generations.

Responsibilities

  • Develop store associates and foster a culture of growth, accountability, and genuine customer care
  • Set meaningful performance goals with staff and deliver consistent, constructive feedback and recognition
  • Participate in associate performance reviews; identifying strengths, opportunities, and paths for advancement
  • Deliver monthly one-on-one coaching to all associates based on individual customer service performance
  • Model professionalism and a customer-first attitude, leading the team by example
  • Review store evaluations with the management team to identify opportunity areas and address urgent issues promptly
  • Delegate tasks to ensure merchandising, visual standards, and store appearance consistently meet company expectations
  • Maintain accurate inventory levels; manage daily receiving and transfers in alignment with company best practices, metrics, and deadlines
  • Utilize inventory reporting tools to minimize shrinkage and keep stock levels optimized
  • Forecast staffing needs based on customer demand and create effective work schedules
  • Monitor payroll to ensure compliance with budgetary guidelines and take corrective action when needed
  • Partner with the Store and General Manager before making staffing decisions, including hiring, promotions, and separations
  • Drive sales performance and help the team hit store goals
  • Build strong client relationships and strategic community partnerships
  • Develop in-store marketing initiatives including promotions, events, and seasonal merchandising
  • Review customer service analysis reports (Mystery Shopper, Customer Engagement Surveys) and collaborate with the team on service improvements
  • Proactively resolve customer concerns with urgency and professionalism
  • Communicate store performance metrics through daily huddles, communication boards, and team meetings to educate, engage, and motivate staff
  • Enforce all company policies consistently and maintain open communication channels with your team
  • Identify and coordinate training programs for associates, including new-hire orientation, on-the-job training, and vendor-led sessions
  • Pursue ongoing professional growth through self-directed learning, industry events, local business conferences, and Ace Learning
  • Role-model all safety procedures — proactively recommending improvements to safety standards
  • Conduct regular preventative safety and fire inspections, taking immediate corrective action on any shortcomings
  • Implement procedures to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming store environment
