An Assistant Manager shares in the responsibility for the overall performance of the store and assists Store Management with generating sales potential, recruiting and developing staff, maintaining store appearance, and controlling expenses and shortages. The Assistant Manager is responsible for all activities within the store in the absence of the GM / SM or Associate Manager. They must manage time and prioritize tasks effectively. The role involves understanding and complying with all company policies, procedures, and operations, while maintaining the highest level of security and safety awareness. Problem recognition, cause analysis, and solution generation are key. The Assistant Manager will manage all controllable expenses, including payroll allocation, and attend mall/center management meetings in the absence of other management. They will follow the Inventory Shrinkage Improvement Program, maintain productivity in shipment processing, inventory counting, and price change activities, and ensure the store has all necessary tools and knowledge to use them adequately. The role also includes managing store openings and closings, and taking direction to complete assigned tasks and responsibilities. Leadership responsibilities include assisting in recruiting and hiring sales associates who represent the Tommy Hilfiger image, developing all associates to be knowledgeable in product, merchandising, operations, customer service, sales, and company growth. They will motivate and develop support staff to meet store goals, handle difficult situations while maintaining performance, and seek support when necessary. Effective supervision of the sales floor to ensure customer/associate awareness at all times is crucial. Demonstrating teamwork within the store and company, ensuring staff is treated professionally, respectfully, and courteously, and effectively participating in management meetings are also key aspects of the role. The Assistant Manager must be able to express ideas effectively and lead by example, while maintaining confidentiality and meeting commitments. Merchandising and visual responsibilities include direct supervision of selected departments to ensure maximum potential, participation and oversight of merchandising directives, updates, and markdowns. Analyzing and reacting to business needs, identifying top sellers and slow sellers, and fulfilling the merchandising strategy are important. Maintaining elevated store presentation through training and overseeing standards defined by brand standards and company directives, with an eye for detail, is required. Thorough knowledge of sales floor and stockroom organization/systems is necessary, and keeping management informed of all merchandise and visual related issues is expected. Maintaining store organization, fixtures, hardware, and general cleanliness is also part of the role.
