The Assistant Store Manager is responsible for all aspects of customer relations and order processing. They will also assist the store manager in daily operations to control inventory, expenses, and staff. This position is required to perform all services necessary for a successful sales environment, including obtaining or receiving merchandise, totaling bills, accepting payment, and providing excellent customer service in a retail store environment. The primary job functions include planning and assigning daily goals, tasks, and assignments to staff members, assuring proper completion through follow-up, and monitoring sales performance, assisting in adjusting strategies when necessary. This role involves management of all office tasks, including management of funds and media, receiving, inventory, payroll, and writing the employee schedule. Responsible for communication with all staff, and must have the ability to run all aspects of the store in the manager’s absence. The Assistant Store Manager will analyze and measure business trends, develop and implement plans to maximize sales and meet or exceed goals and objectives, and control shrink, expenses, and payroll. They will ensure compliance with all policies and procedures through regular store management and staff meetings, store walk-throughs, and audits. This role requires continual evaluation and reaction to performance issues, completion and administration of 90-Day and Annual employee reviews, and training and development of store employees in all aspects of the business, directing and monitoring training and development for all store personnel. The Assistant Store Manager must be able to handle and resolve issues between employees and customers and/or among employees, monitor and assist in Accounts Receivable collections, and possess a willingness and ability to work additional hours (including weekends & holidays) as needed and travel to various company locations. They must ensure that each customer receives outstanding customer service by providing a guest-friendly environment, which includes greeting and acknowledging every customer, maintaining outstanding standards, solid product knowledge, and all other components of customer service. The role involves routinely contacting and visiting customers to foster improved communications and build upon relationships, monitoring sales trends, pricing, and inventory levels, and offering advice to the Store Manager. The Assistant Store Manager will train and develop store staff, ensuring all company policies and procedures are followed, and make proper, necessary decisions when the Store Manager is unavailable. They must present a good image of the company through proper dress and attitude, participate in and complete company-sponsored and supported training, attend training or use printed media to increase product knowledge, and perform any other tasks or duties assigned by the Store Manager.
