About The Position

The Assistant Store Manager assists the Store Manager in overseeing the daily operations of a retail store to support maximum sales and profitability. This includes merchandising execution, expense and inventory management, team training and development, human resources management, and providing outstanding customer service. The role is responsible for the quality and performance of store staff, compliance with company policies and operational standards, and helping the store meet its goals. The standard work week does not exceed 40 hours. A flexible schedule is required, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays. The position may involve working in multiple stores within the assigned district and traveling by car, plane, or train.

Requirements

• At least one year of retail management experience.
• Solid knowledge of business and excellent command of English to communicate effectively with management, associates, and customers.
• Strong interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations with poise, tact, and diplomacy.
• Ability to think strategically and plan and organize effectively.
• Professionalism in all situations.
• Proficient analytical ability to gather and summarize data, solve administrative problems, and prioritize work.
• Results-driven, with critical and creative thinking skills.
• Project management, time management, analytical, and strong organizational skills.
• Ability to exercise discretion, maintain confidentiality, and use independent judgment, compassion, and diplomacy.

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
• Willingness to work in multiple stores in the assigned district.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work extended hours during critical project phases and in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Reliable transportation.
• Willingness to travel by car, plane, or train.

Responsibilities

• Support the overall quality and performance of retail store staff.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
• Model effective leadership to gain commitment to store goals and training standards.
• Assist with recruiting, selecting, training, and developing store personnel.
• Assist the Store Manager with annual performance evaluations and provide feedback.
• Assist with expense management and develop strategies to help stores perform within budget.
• Help monitor and identify loss or inventory inconsistencies to achieve shrink goals at or below company plan.
• Monitor and control operational compliance, safety, and business standards.
• Support employee training in suggested selling and merchandising techniques.
• Uphold company customer service standards and provide customers with a friendly environment and outstanding service.
• Assist with accurate and regular merchandise inventory counts.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
