About The Position
The Assistant Store Manager supports the daily operations of one or more self-storage locations under the guidance of the District Manager and Store Manager. The role helps maintain facility cleanliness and operational excellence, builds customer relationships through in-person and phone interactions, presents a structured sales process, and manages customer accounts. The position includes indoor and outdoor work, from desk-based tasks to physical duties, with exposure to seasonal weather. Regular activities include standing, walking, climbing stairs, bending, sitting, and lifting or moving items weighing up to 35 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally. A valid driver’s license and reliable personal vehicle are required for daily bank deposits and travel to other sites as needed, except in New York City and Brooklyn.
Requirements
- At least 1 year of customer-facing work experience.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Current valid driver’s license and access to a reliable personal vehicle for daily bank deposits and travel to other sites as needed, except in New York City and Brooklyn.
- Regularly lift or move items up to 35 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
Nice To Haves
- Sales experience preferred.
- College education is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships by identifying storage needs and providing tailored solutions.
- Maximize sales objectives through unit rentals, unit insurance, and moving supplies.
- Maintain cleanliness through ongoing site maintenance, including sweeping, mopping, and grounds maintenance across the office, storage building, and surrounding areas.
- Perform daily site safety inspections, including lock checks.
- Address and resolve customer concerns related to billing, security, auctions, and proper site usage.
- Handle cash transactions, balance receipts, follow up on delinquent payments, process customer payments, and complete daily bank deposits.
- Establish and maintain professional relationships with Extra Space employees to support the company culture.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
