About The Position

As an Assistant Store Manager, you will support a Market Leader or Campus Store Manager in oversight of store operations. You will be responsible for driving results through sales growth while delivering the highest level of brand and operational excellence throughout the store by ensuring your team delivers an engaging customer service experience. You will cultivate an environment of mentorship and continuous development of your team members while staying engaged in financial metrics and store performance and support a Market Leader or Campus Store Manager with overall store operations. Requirements

  • An Associate's Degree or equivalent is preferred.
  • 0-5 years of retail or bookstore experience preferred.
  • Prior supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises the work activities of sales team members FT/PT and Temporary, including scheduling, training, ensuring policy adherence, and merchandising standards.
  • Performs onboarding procedures for new hires.
  • Greets customers, answers phones, provides information, directs callers, and resolves escalated issues, fostering a solutions-based selling and exceptional customer experience.
  • Receives, verifies, and unloads orders.
  • Operates cash register and store computer for payments, orders, and cash handling procedures, including balancing drawers and preparing deposits.
  • Stocks shelves and takes inventory.
  • Performs general store cleaning and straightening.
  • Executes merchandising standards, promotion standards, and creates displays.
  • Fills in for other personnel during breaks, lunch, vacation, or peak seasonal periods.
  • Serves as Keyholder with opening and closing responsibilities.
  • Calculates deposits, counts cash drawers and safe, works with accounts receivable, and collects bad checks. Balances financial transactions, checks invoices against purchase orders, and compiles data for reporting.
  • Enters and produces Daily Sales Reports, month-end, and payroll reports.
  • Applies shrink prevention practices and activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
