The Assistant Store Manager is responsible for managing staff and operations of various store departments to ensure quality of product, food and physical safety, and inventory stock levels. This role oversees the execution of merchandising plans, ensures adherence to Company standards and procedures, manages the achievement of store sales and profits using acceptable business practices, and promotes customer service. The Assistant Store Manager is responsible for carrying out management responsibilities including interviewing, hiring, training and developing partners; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining partners; and scheduling, addressing complaints, and resolving problems. They ensure effective training of partners within the departments under their supervision, review historical data to predict future sales from ads and promotions, and manage inventory using item management processes to ensure satisfactory in-stock levels. The role involves reviewing profit and loss, sales, shrink, and labor data and providing summaries to upper management. The Assistant Store Manager is responsible for maintaining and improving sales performance, cash flow, public relations, product quality, and work standards. This position frequently opens/closes the store, ensures the store is presentable, adequate staff is available, and manages the safety, responsiveness, and fiscal management of cash and monetary assets. They oversee asset protection processes, including alarm system management, key control, and merchandise protection, and lead the execution of core safety processes. The role enforces quality control and food safety standards, conducts store inspections, and oversees pricing and direct store delivery (DSD) duties. The Assistant Store Manager reviews planograms and executes merchandising plans to increase sales and develops/implements initiatives for loss prevention and shrink reduction. They plan short-term strategic objectives, anticipate problems, and revise plans as needed. This role assists in directing store operations and managing operating expenses to maximize cash flow, EBITDA, sales, gross margin, and net profit. They maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary working and shopping environment and display exemplary customer service, acting as a role model for partners. The Assistant Store Manager checks inventory on trucks, unloads products, and ensures accuracy of inventory, product ordering, and associated paperwork.
