About The Position

The Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager with store operations, customer service, and team development. The role assists with day-to-day store activities, helps customers, maintains merchandise and store presentation, carries out opening and closing procedures, and processes corporate directives. It also supports ordering, damaged merchandise processing, record keeping, loss prevention, asset protection, and compliance with company policies and safety guidelines. The Assistant Store Manager helps supervise, train, and develop Store Associates and contributes to a positive, safe, and respectful environment. The position also includes maintaining store cleanliness, including bathrooms, floors, trash, and other areas.

Requirements

Ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives, such as merchandise schematics.
Ability to lift up to 55 lbs. from floor to above shoulder height and meet demands of frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, and repetitive lifting.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent.
Store management experience in a retail, grocery, or drug store environment.

Responsibilities

Assist with store functions and day-to-day activities.
Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address their questions or concerns.
Organize and transfer merchandise from delivery trucks to the stockroom and sales floor, and maintain seasonal areas.
Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
Process corporate directives, including Pull and Hold/Destroy, Task Compliance, Key Survey information requests, and other store-related communications.
Maintain the promotional effectiveness of storefront fixtures and displays.
Assist with merchandise ordering, damaged merchandise processing, record keeping, payroll, scheduling, cash register deposits and receipts, and loss prevention.
Maintain the sales floor and stockroom to company standards.
Protect and secure company assets, including store cash.
Follow company policies and safety guidelines and ensure associates do the same.
Help the Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
Maintain positive, safe, respectful, professional, and friendly interactions with customers, associates, and leaders.
Maintain store cleanliness, including cleaning and restocking bathrooms, sweeping and mopping floors, taking out trash, and keeping areas neat and presentable.
Perform other duties as assigned.
