About The Position

The Muse Coffee Company is seeking an Assistant Store Manager for a Full-Time position in Lynchburg, VA. This role is for a hands-on leader who is willing to work behind the bar, coach teammates, and create an exceptional experience for every guest. The Assistant Store Manager will partner with the Store Manager to lead daily operations, develop team members, and ensure outstanding service and consistently great food and beverages. The ideal candidate enjoys leading from the front, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and believes hospitality is about making people feel genuinely welcome.

• Leadership experience in a coffee shop, café, restaurant, retail, or hospitality environment.
• Leads with integrity, humility, and a positive attitude.
• Enjoys coaching others and helping people succeed.
• Communicates clearly and works well with others.
• Stays calm under pressure and solves problems effectively.
• Is dependable, organized, and detail-oriented.
• Loves coffee, hospitality, and serving the local community.
• Available to work a flexible schedule, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and some holidays.

Responsibilities

• Lead by example with a positive attitude and strong work ethic.
• Coach, motivate, and develop baristas and shift leaders.
• Assist with recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and training new team members.
• Foster a culture built on teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Step into leadership whenever the Store Manager is unavailable.
• Create memorable experiences for every guest.
• Resolve guest concerns with professionalism and care.
• Ensure every food and beverage item consistently meets Muse quality standards.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming café environment.
• Oversee café operations during assigned shifts.
• Assist with scheduling, labor management, inventory, ordering, and store organization.
• Help monitor sales and operational performance.
• Maintain food safety and sanitation standards.
• Jump in wherever needed—from making drinks to stocking inventory—to support the team during busy periods.
