The C-Store Assistant Manager is responsible for establishing and maintaining Customer Service and is accountable for the operation of the c-store including gas pumps, ensuring maximum sales and profitability through merchandise, inventory, employee management, and managing operating costs and shrink. This role involves ensuring each customer receives outstanding service by providing a customer friendly environment and maintaining superior standards of operations. The Assistant Manager will also control shrink, expenses, and schedule employees per guidelines set by management. They will ensure appropriate merchandise stock levels, that all perishables are within selling dates, and the selling floor is adequately stocked with appropriate signage. Additionally, they will ensure employees are in compliance with all policies and procedures, are trained properly, and that all employee and equipment certifications are current. The role also involves ensuring all money handling is conducted per company procedures and that employees are fully trained to handle POS and other store equipment to minimize errors and cashier shortages. Maintaining Company standards to ensure we meet or exceed Terrible Herbst Operational Excellence Programs, preparing Daily Activity Reports accurately and in a timely manner, and preparing and completing the daily fuel survey are also key responsibilities. The Assistant Manager will continually evaluate and manage employee issues and their performances, cover open shifts as designated by the C-Store Manager, and travel to other district locations to support district staffing needs. Availability to work any shift required to meet store demands and be on-call to cover sick calls is essential.
