About The Position

We're looking for a mission-aligned Assistant Store Manager to join our team! The Assistant Store Manager Retail is a vital key leader within the CommunityAid store. They provide oversight for the full range of operational activities, resulting in positive experiences for both employees and customers as well as retail profitability – all in a manner consistent with our Mission and Values. The Assistant Store Manager Retail sets expectations for the proper execution of policies and procedures and responds as appropriate to employee performance. The person in this role may also serve as the acting Store Manager when the Store Manager is not present.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum of one-year experience in a supervisory role within a comparable retail or service-oriented business preferred
  • Experience effectively managing in a fast-paced, professional work environment
  • The ability to properly handle and maintain confidential information
  • Flexibility with scheduling and availability to work evenings and weekends on a regular basis
  • Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S without sponsorship
  • Adherence to consistent attendance and weekly hours expectations based on full-time exempt status

Responsibilities

  • Provide oversight for the full range of operational activities, resulting in positive experiences for both employees and customers as well as retail profitability.
  • Set expectations for the proper execution of policies and procedures and respond as appropriate to employee performance.
  • Promote a consistent positive shopping experience for all CommunityAid customers to encourage repeat visits and deter theft.
  • Handle customer complaints promptly and professionally.
  • Comprehend and adhere to cash handling and management procedures.
  • Oversee cash handling procedures, including counting cash drawers, reconciling transactions, making daily deposits and bank runs, while ensuring the security of the safe.
  • Train and supervise the Retail Floor Supervisor and Front-End Trainer.
  • Promote CommunityAid’s sales and marketing strategies, including sales floor layout, merchandising, procurement stocking, product quality and rag out for the clothing area.
  • Conduct daily floor walks, sharing insights with Store Management to ensure alignment.
  • Design and implement seasonal store layout changes with the support of the Retail Floor Supervisor.
  • Ensure the sales floor presentation, including recovery and signage, adheres to standards.
  • Ensure the proper functioning of the fitting rooms, including recovery of items to the sales floor.
  • Oversee the timely delivery of product to the sales floor, ensuring operational efficiency and adherence to quality standards.
  • Communicate retail supply needs and provide feedback on the quality of product sent to the sales floor.
  • Oversee Retail Associates (Retail Floor Supervisor, Retail Floor Trainer, and Retail Associates).
  • Conduct weekly or as needed one-on-one meetings with the Retail Floor Supervisor, Retail Floor Trainer, and Associates.
  • Evaluate potential candidates for cultural alignment and positions fit through phone interviews and on-site interviews.
  • Manage the selection and integration of new staff by adhering to company procedures.
  • Support the Retail Trainers in training new Associates in their roles, responsibilities, company policies, procedures and best practices, including cross-training in other departments as needed.
  • Collaborate with the Operations Manager to ensure proper staffing levels, in adherence with the labor model.
  • Communicate performance expectations, coaching for improvement and success and utilize existing performance management tools to document conversations.
  • Assist the Store Manager in the annual review process by sharing input on the employees’ performance.
  • Promote employee engagement through regular huddles and team meetings, one-on-one check-ins, special events, and prioritizing employee recognition.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable state and federal laws, as well as CommunityAid policies and procedures, and ensures these are clearly communicated and followed by Retail staff.
  • Maintain a safe environment for both employees and customers.
  • Ensure cleanliness and organization on the sales floor.
  • Regularly monitor for safety, promptly addressing and taking measures to correct unsafe work conditions.
  • Promptly report all near misses and incidents through the designated safety platform and ensures timely communication of these events to the Store Manager.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Store Manager.
  • Provide support for other departments as needed or directed by the Store Manager.
  • Take responsibility for the overall function of the store when other store management is not present.
  • Comply with all Company established policies and standards.
