The Assistant Store Manager Fresh is responsible for managing fresh perimeter departments, including bakery, deli, produce, and market. This role ensures the quality of product, food and physical safety, and inventory stock levels. The manager oversees the execution of merchandising plans, ensures adherence to Company standards and procedures, manages the achievement of store sales and profits using acceptable business practices, and promotes customer service. This position carries out management responsibilities including interviewing, hiring, training and developing partners; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining partners; and scheduling, addressing complaints, and resolving problems. They ensure effective training of partners within the departments under their supervision, review historical data to predict future sales from ads and promotions, and manage inventory using item management processes to ensure satisfactory in-stock levels. The role involves reviewing profit and loss, sales, shrink, and labor data, and providing summaries to upper management. The Assistant Store Manager Fresh is responsible for maintaining and improving sales performance, cash flow, public relations, product quality, and work standards. They are frequently required to open/close the store, ensure the store is presentable, adequate staff is available, and manage the fiscal management of cash and monetary assets. The role enforces quality control and food safety standards, maintains cooler and dryer organization, and verifies cooking and holding temperatures. They conduct store inspections, review planograms, and execute merchandising plans. The position develops and implements initiatives for loss prevention and shrink reduction, plans short-term strategic objectives, and assists in the direction of store operations and management of operating expenses. Promoting and maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary working and shopping environment is crucial, as is displaying exemplary customer service and acting as a role model. The role also involves checking inventory on trucks, unloading products, and ensuring accuracy of inventory, product ordering, and associated paperwork.
