About The Position

The Department of Environmental and Occupational Health (EOH) and Center for Occupational and Environmental Health (COEH) in Joe C. Wen School of Population and Public Health at UC Irvine is seeking an occupational medicine physician with strong clinical interests. This individual will join the faculty as a contract staff physician, primarily providing clinical care services at the COEH Irvine Occupational and Environmental Medicine Clinic. There is also an opportunity, if interested, to participate in the training of residents in the UCI OEM Residency Program. This position includes a Voluntary HS Clinical Faculty Appointment. The UCI OEM Residency Program, established in 1976, leverages its location in Orange County to provide extensive training opportunities across the greater Southern California area, and is a core program of the NIOSH-funded Southern California Education and Research Center. The role requires a balance between clinical practice in occupational and environmental medicine. The position is offered for 20-60% time, is based on patient care, and is paid hourly on an as-needed basis. The department is also seeking a physician to provide back-up support when the primary physician is unavailable.

Requirements

  • Eligible to hold a UC Irvine Physician and Surgeon Medical Group membership
  • Eligible for UCI Medical Staff privileges
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
  • Ability to delegate and empower staff and build strong employee morale
  • At least three years prior OEM clinic experience
  • Board certified in occupational medicine
  • Eligible for licensure in the State of California
  • Must be able to provide proof of work authorization

  • Knowledge of standard hospital policies, procedures and forms
  • Conceptually understands electronic medical records (Epic)
