About The Position
An Assistant Special Education Teacher, under the direction and supervision of the Directors, will be responsible for the supervision and one-on-one instruction of students with mild disabilities. This role involves providing guidance and support to students in a positive manner and may require teaching small groups. There are opportunities to move into other positions within the school and the special education department.
Requirements
- Must work well under pressure
- Ability to diffuse highly emotional situations
- Earned an Associates Degree OR Earned 48 college credit hours OR Successfully completing a basic academic skills (parapro) exam within the first week of hire
Nice To Haves
- Experience in Special Education is desired
Responsibilities
- Provides supervision and instruction to students with special needs
- Supervise students with special needs during lunch
- Provide consistent communication to the Directors regarding students
- Provide guidance and support to students in a positive manner
- May be required to teach small groups of students
