About The Position

The Law Department of Baltimore City is seeking a highly qualified attorney to join its Defensive Litigation/Land Use Practice Group. Qualified candidates should have experience handling legal matters that pertain to four principal areas of law: condemnation (eminent domain) - preferred, zoning and planning, environmental law, and construction/demolition/rehabilitation of property as well as experience in transactional matters. Excellent research and writing skills and ability to handle community meetings and hearings before zoning are required.

Requirements

Law degree from an accredited law school
Admission to the Bar of the State of Maryland
At least 3 years of experience in zoning, land use and transactional (purchases and sales, leasing, etc.)
Working knowledge of local, state, and federal laws and statutes
Ability to manage and prioritize multiple complex matters
Exceptional oral and written communication skills
Ability to establish and maintain effective, collaborative working relationships with others (inside and outside the Law Department)
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines while handling multiple tasks
Ability to maintain professionalism under pressure
A strong sense of ownership of tasks and responsibilities
Strong interpersonal skills required to work with the public and various agencies
Willingness to perform with minimal administrative support
