About The Position

The Assistant Softball Coach will perform duties as assigned by the head coach, including coaching and instructing players on rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques. This role involves observing players to identify areas for improvement, establishing and maintaining athlete behavior standards, and ensuring proper supervision. The coach will follow established procedures for injuries, adhere to state, regional, and district athletic regulations, and model sports-like behavior and appropriate conduct. Additionally, the coach will act as a team representative, promote the sport, and manage equipment and supplies. Participation in special team events and modeling nondiscriminatory practices are also key aspects of the role. The position also requires attending staff development meetings and other professional activities to enhance coaching skills.

Responsibilities

  • Performs duties as assigned by head coach.
  • Coaches and instructs players, individually or in groups, regarding the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport.
  • Observes players, during competition and practice to determine the needs for individual or team improvement.
  • Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior and provides proper supervision of athletes at all times.
  • Follows established procedures in the event of an athlete’s injury.
  • Follows state, regional, and district regulations governing the athletic program.
  • Models sports-like behavior and maintains appropriate conduct towards players, officials, and spectators.
  • Acts as a team representative and promotes the sport.
  • Follows established procedures for the proper care, maintenance, and requisitioning of equipment, supplies, and uniforms.
  • Participates in special activities to include parent’s night, banquets, award nights, and pep assemblies.
  • Models nondiscriminatory practices.
  • Attends staff development meetings, clinics, and other professional activities to improve coaching performance.
  • Performs any other related duties as assigned by the school principal, athletic director, or other appropriate personnel.
