About The Position

This position assists in the coordination of the HCC Softball program by performing all duties assigned by the Head Coach and Athletic Director to the best of their ability and in a professional manner.

Requirements

  • Must have a valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of students, community members, and employees of organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to100 pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Related experience and/or training desired.
  • Computer experience desired.

Responsibilities

  • Attend coach meetings and clinics for professional growth.
  • Attend and take part in the in-service training provided by the Head Coach.
  • Be familiar with and follow the policies of Highland Community College, the NJCAA, and the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference.
  • Assist the Head Coach in recruiting activities.
  • Attend all practices, workouts, and home and away contests in the Women's Softball Program.
  • Remain until all participants have left facilities or designate a responsible person to remain.
  • Teach sportsmanship and set an example of good moral and physical behavior.
  • Teach fundamentals, techniques, etc., as directed by the Head Coach.
  • Assume responsibility of assisting the head coach, under his/her supervision, in performing assigned responsibilities.
  • Assist the Head Coach with driving responsibilities to away contests.
  • Be loyal to the Head Coach and his/her program.
