About The Position

Responsible for coaching, recruiting, and scheduling for the University’s intercollegiate Division III Nationally Competitive Soccer program. This role involves teaching activity classes and a second assignment within the Athletic Department. The coach will recruit qualified student athletes according to TU Admissions Office guidelines and assist the Head Men's Soccer Coach in all aspects of coaching and administering the Division III Men's Soccer program. Responsibilities include managing expenditures within the budget, making travel arrangements for out-of-town contests, and helping to raise funds to supplement the budget. The coach will also assume a second assignment in the Athletic Department as determined by the Athletic Director. Additional duties include abiding by NCAA Division III Men's Soccer rules and regulations, remaining "on-call" for student-athletes needs 24/7 (nights and weekends), requiring extensive travel during the regular and recruiting seasons. Cooperation and collaboration with other employees in a spirit of teamwork and collegiality are expected, along with professional leadership during emergencies. Compliance with all Trinity University policies and guidelines is mandatory.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Six months of college soccer coaching experience. College and professional athlete experience counts toward required experience on a year-for-year basis.
  • Effectiveness in the recruitment of student athletes and the instructional aspects of coaching.
  • Knowledge of NCAA rules (General & Division III).
  • Knowledge of coaching, recruiting, scouting, and scheduling.
  • Knowledge of budgeting, fundraising, and travel planning.
  • Knowledge of management, leadership, and teaching.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented and well organized.
  • Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheets, and database creation and maintenance.
  • Strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Critical thinking skills, adaptability, and initiative.
  • Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s License and have a good driving history. May not have more than two moving violations in a three-year period.
  • All jobs require a current Criminal Background Check (CBC).
  • Must be willing to work long hours, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Three years of college coaching experience at the intercollegiate level and/or any equivalent combination of experience and training (educational courses, etc.) that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Prior experience with budget reconciliation is strongly preferred.
