About The Position
Every day, thousands of animals in Massachusetts rely on the MSPCA for safety and care. As our Assistant Manager, you’ll help lead our Boston Adoption Center by supporting staff, inspiring volunteers, connecting with the community, and ensuring every animal receives the compassion and care they deserve. Requirements
- 1 year of management or supervisory experience (non-profit preferred)
- 2 years in animal sheltering, veterinary services, or comparable human-services fields preferred
- A compassionate, people-centered leader who believes deeply in helping animals and their families
- Excellent communication skills and strong attention to detail
- A commitment to maintaining the positive, supportive culture we’ve built

Responsibilities
- Guide and support an incredible team of staff and volunteers
- Ensure top-quality daily care for animals in our center
- Create positive, respectful experiences for adopters, surrenderers, and visitors
- Assist with training, scheduling, performance development, and team culture
- Provide euthanasia counseling while upholding the highest standard of respectful, compassionate care
- Model the kindness and professionalism that define the MSPCA
