About The Position

This role involves attracting, advising, and serving existing and prospective customers in a personal banking setting. The Assistant Secretary, Personal Banking Officer is responsible for having in-depth conversations to help customers achieve financial success, providing extraordinary service that generates referral opportunities, and responding promptly to customer needs. The position requires developing a customer calling list, proactively using the Customer Relationship Management system to expand relationships and identify new business, and building customer trust and loyalty. The role also focuses on expanding the branch with new clients and businesses, networking and volunteering in the community, and maintaining broad knowledge of products and services. Responsibilities include accepting and overseeing the approval of consumer loans, ensuring credit quality within approved authority, and adhering strictly to bank security, Bank Secrecy Act, USA Patriot Act, and customer information safeguarding policies. Collaboration with internal business partners in Wealth Management, Electronic Banking, Mortgage, and Business Relationship Management is essential to provide comprehensive financial solutions. Additionally, the role directs human resources development for office professionals, including training, performance reviews, career path meetings, policy communication, procedure adherence, and coaching on customer interactions. The position also involves processing a wide array of transactions, opening new accounts, assisting with electronic banking and digital product inquiries, and managing all aspects of the branch, including staff, customers, and the building and grounds. Participation in meeting Community Banking Department goals through various meetings (Daily 5 Minute Meetings, Weekly Relationship Building Conference Calls, Weekly Branch Based Sales Meetings, Monthly Employee Relations Meetings, Retail Banking Group) is also a key function. Other duties as assigned are also part of the role.

Requirements

  • 3 years’ banking experience including supervisory responsibilities required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Supervisory training and expertise, leadership and interpersonal skills required.
  • Ability to concentrate and perform responsibilities by maintaining a constant state of focus and mental alertness.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds (i.e., heavy boxes or coins).
  • Ability to communicate in person, through email or via telephone with customers and staff members.
  • Ability to sit or stand for an extended period.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job may include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

Nice To Haves

  • 1-3 years management experience in sales/business related field preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.

  • Conducts meetings to communicate information and policies from various Bank committees.
  • Ensures staff is following proper procedures and guidelines set forth by the bank.
  • Coaches to evaluate staff’s customer conversations and results.
  • Opens new accounts.
  • Proficient in electronic banking and digital product use and questions.
  • Processes transaction on an as needed basis.
  • Manages all aspects of the branch including staff, customers, and the building and grounds.
  • Conducts or attends and participates in meetings to discuss and evaluate progress on meeting goals and objectives.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or directed.
