About The Position

The Assistant Scientist will supervise, teach, and mentor graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and other research trainees. This role involves leading laboratory meetings, research discussions, and journal clubs, fostering a collaborative and productive research environment. The Assistant Scientist will oversee research projects and laboratory operations, ensuring alignment with the laboratory's scientific mission and strategic goals. They will independently design, conduct, and troubleshoot complex experiments, applying a broad range of advanced research methodologies. Data collection, analysis, and interpretation will be key, along with ensuring compliance with institutional and regulatory requirements. This role also includes overseeing laboratory purchasing, resource management, and assisting with grant fund management and proposal preparation. Dissemination of research findings through publications and presentations is also expected.

Requirements

  • MD, PhD, or MD/PhD in immunology, Cancer Biology, or other related field.
  • Professionalism, working in the lab onsite/in person.
  • Professionalism and ability to communicate effectively while maintaining a joyful work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, supervise, and mentor graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and other research trainees.
  • Coordinate and lead laboratory meetings, research discussions, journal clubs, and collaborative meetings.
  • Foster a collaborative and productive research environment.
  • Oversee research projects and laboratory operations.
  • Independently design, conduct, and troubleshoot complex experiments.
  • Apply and oversee a broad range of advanced research methodologies.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret complex experimental data.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable institutional and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee laboratory purchasing and resource management.
  • Assist with the management and oversight of grant funds.
  • Identify relevant funding opportunities and contribute to grant proposal preparation and submission.
  • Lead and contribute to the preparation of abstracts, manuscripts, publications, presentations, and other scientific communications.
  • Prepare high-quality figures, presentations, and other scientific materials.
